Enjoy some desserts and then stick around for a moving farbrengen. In Yiddish, “farbrengen” literally means “spending time together.” Technically, a farbrengen is an informal gathering where Jews come together to share words of inspiration, sing soulful Chassidic melodies, nosh on snacks, and toast l’chaim. But in truth, it’s much more than a “party with a purpose.” At a farbrengen, all who are present lay it all out on the table, so to speak—openly and candidly helping one another get in touch with the Infinite. It is often said that what can be accomplished by one farbrengen, not even the Angels can achieve. But to truly grasp the transformative power of a farbrengen, it has to be experienced.
